Mount Washington Road Race June 19, 2010
Just before race director Bob Teschek starts the race, he always reminds you "there is only one hill." Of course that hill is more than 7.6 miles long with nearly 5,000 feet of climb, a sadistic test of running ability. It's really no mystery why there are so many runners willing to put themselves through this anaerobic hell, and why hundreds of disappointed more wish they could, but were not "lucky" enough to get picked in the lottery. It's the challenge, of course. The fact that it is so difficult is precisely the reason so many are so driven to try a race that leaves even the most accomplished runners gasping for breath. As one famous writer once said, " I don't enjoy writing at all, but I do enjoy having written." That pretty much sums up running up Mt. Washington.

Newtons Revenge July 10, 2010
Website: http://www.newtonsrevenge.com
This hillclimb will be contested on exactly the same course as the historic Mt Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb – the toughest hillclimb in the world. This new addition is in response to the overwhelming popularity of the MWARBH and this year will benefit the Mt Washington Observatory and other non-profits. The intent of this second hillclimb is to satisfy the demand for bicycle racing on this hill and to raise money, but it will only be conducted in a way that will not hinder the Tin Mountain Conservation Center's ability to raise funds in the future through the annual Mt Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb held in August. Auto Road will be open to the public from 12:30 pm until 6:00 pm.

This 7.6-mile all-uphill race to the summit of the highest peak in the northeastern United States is the primary annual fundraiser for Tin Mountain Conservation Center located in Albany, N.H. For the privilege of pedaling up the unrelenting grade, sometimes with winds of 40 mph. or more, elite and amateur cyclists pay an entry fee of $350, from which all proceeds support Tin Mountain's great work promoting an appreciation for the natural world while instilling the bedrock principles of sound stewardship and sustainable lifestyles. Entry fees help support Summer Camps, School Programs, and Community Programs for both adults and children.
Auto Road opens to the public at 12:30pm.
